I am Artash Nath. I am a Grade 9 Student from Toronto, Canada. I work on space, robotics, machine learning, and big data projects. I love to cook, strum the guitar, and play water polo.
I conceived “Monitor My Lockdown” project in June 2020 during school closures because of the COVID-19 lockdown. Lockdowns are hard on everyone: businesses, seniors, youths and kids. But they are essential to check the spread of COVID-19.
I came up with the idea of measuring the impacts of lockdowns on the movements of people. I installed sensors and camera in front of my home in Toronto to measure changes in street sound levels, city night lights, pollution levels, and traffic on the road. But I wanted to expand my analysis to the entire country. So I moved from ground-level measurements to subsurface and started analyzing data from seismic stations across Canada.
I created this website and a Web App to present the results of seismic silences of Canadian cities because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
